For the next six months, Malta holds the rotating presidency of the European Union.

It’s a delicate moment. Europe is fire-fighting rising populism, migration and the chaos of Brexit. Malta has set out its policy agenda, which includes advancing the single market, social inclusion and security.

The Presidency is a new video series by Euractiv.com, looking at the priorities of the Council Presidency. In this debate, Brian Maguire moderates a discussion of Malta’s priorities, with a special focus on Europe’s single market.

Brian was joined in the studio by Ilze Juhansone, Deputy Secretary General of the European Commission, Maltese Partit Nazzjonalista MEP Roberta Metsola, and Jérôme Chauvin, Deputy Director General of BusinessEurope.

The Presidency is supported by the Maltese Presidency.
