Negotiations for an EU-India free-trade agreement are currently stalled but both sides are looking at ways to improve trade and investment relations. This remains a key priority market for EU business. The announcements made during the EU-India Summit of 8 May 2021 to resume negotiations for a trade agreement, launch negotiations on a stand-alone investment protection agreement and start negotiations on a separate agreement on geographical indications were very well received by European business.
