International cooperation

BusinessEurope has a strong voice at the European Patent Office (EPO) in Munich as it is the only business organisation having the observer status at the governing bodies of this international organisation (i.e. Administrative Council, Budget and Finance Committee, Patent Law Committee).

BusinessEurope is strongly engaged with the work of the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), who is responsible for managing the EU trade mark and the Community design, as well as with the EUIPO Observatory for the Infringement of Intellectual Property Rights. BusinessEurope has also a permanent observer status in the EUIPO governing bodies.

Beyond these ‘European’ cooperation activities, BusinessEurope is working closely with stakeholder representatives and IP offices from the largest intellectual property jurisdictions in the world, i.e. from the USA, Japan, China and South Korea. BusinessEurope is now a respected and recognised industry voice at both political and technical levels.
