Brexit negotiations progress is a positive sign
The formal decision of the European Commission to recommend to the European Council that sufficient progress has now been made on the strict terms of the divorce of the UK from the European Union is a positive development in the ongoing Brexit negotiations.
Markus J. Beyrer, Director General of BusinessEurope said: “The business community welcomes the positive assessment from the European Commission that hopefully will be confirmed next week by the European Council. Time is tight and a lot of work lies ahead. Business wants to avoid cliff-edge and companies need stability and a level playing field to maintain close economic ties between the EU27 and the UK. Today’s positive developments will hopefully lead to open discussions on the future EU-UK relation and appropriate transitional arrangements”.
The European Council will decide next week if sufficient progress was made to start negotiations on the future relationship between the EU and the UK. European business trusts the assessment will be positive to move talks forward to the next phase.
