EU competitiveness is employment’s best friend and our top priority

Today in Milan, addressing heads of State and government at the high-level conference on employment in Europe, BUSINESSEUROPE's President Emma Marcegaglia said: "European competitiveness is the best friend of employment, not its enemy. Our main social problem, unemployment, is not due to a deficit of social policy, but to a lack of global competitiveness. The EU must do more to improve access to finance for companies, address high energy prices and promote a business environment leading to investment. EU Member States must work on labour market reforms and make sure the youth employment initiative becomes a success”.
