Paving the way for EU-Japan free-trade agreement

European and Japanese companies have reiterated the need for a comprehensive and ambitious outcome of EU-Japan trade negotiations. During roundtable discussions they had in Brussels, both sides urged negotiators to deliver an agreement that sets high standards and improves the overall business environment in the EU and Japan. A rapid conclusion of the negotiations would be optimal but speed should not overcome substance when addressing critical issues like non-tariff barriers or improved access to public procurement markets.
