On October 7th 2013, BusinessEurope Director General Markus J. Beyrer delivered a speech
at the conference “A new era for EU-US trade”, organised by the Confederation of Danish Industry in Copenhagen. Mr Beyrer stressed that the US is not only Europe’s largest trading partner, but also a like-minded partner with which we share ideals and values. This gives an excellent basis for an ambitious outcome of the negotiations. The TTIP has a crucial role to play in promoting transatlantic investments further. According to recent studies, by reducing non-tariff barriers to investments alone, there would be a 10.9% increase in employment of EU workers by US firms and in the long term, a deep liberalisation could lead to 1,300,000 new jobs in the EU.
