European business: 10 priorities for Paris climate summit

Participating in the preparatory climate change conference until 11 June 2015 in Bonn, BUSINESSEUROPE presented proposals to reach a legally binding agreement with comparable mitigation efforts from major economies in the world. Markus J. Beyrer commented: ‘The EU has become the most emissions efficient economy in the world. We achieved a 19% emissions reduction between 1990 and 2013 while our GDP grew by 45%. And European companies keep strongly committed to making Paris a turning point in global climate efforts. Strong political leadership is needed. Playing with commas, brackets and footnotes in Bonn is not sending a very good signal for business. We call on negotiators to speed up the process to get the best out of Paris for private investment security.’
