Energy must be part of EU-US Trade Deal

Ahead of this week’s EU-US Summit, BUSINESSEUROPE today called for the inclusion of energy provisions in the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership, TTIP. Director General Markus J. Beyrer said: “This benchmark agreement should set high standards in all areas of trade critical for business, including energy. The EU is committed to finding alternative and reliable sources of energy, a challenge that is highlighted by current political events in Ukraine. TTIP can diversify Europe’s energy choices by improving market access and addressing trade restrictions, potentially moderating energy prices for our industrial and domestic users.”
