Competitiveness Council should act as gatekeeper of Europe’s competitiveness

With the right strategy to digitalise our economy by 2025 Europe could see its manufacturing industry add a gross value worth 1.25 trillion euros. If we fail to do so the loss could be 600 billion euros by 2025 – says BUSINESSEUROPE’s letter sent today to Latvian Minister of Economy Dana Reizniece-Ozola, ahead of the Competitiveness Council meeting on 28-29 May 2015. The letter also highlights the importance of mainstreaming industrial competitiveness across all EU policy areas and urges the Council to stand up and amend or veto initiatives undermining it. A similar letter was also sent to all EU Ambassadors.
