BusinessEurope's priorities for the Italian Presidency: What Europe needs to do to make companies more competitive

In a letter to Matteo Renzi, President Emma Marcegaglia presented BusinessEurope's priorities for the Italian presidency of the EU. The strategic roadmap adopted at the European Council meeting in June has not set the ambitious strategy to boost competitiveness in Europe that we expected after the positive signals given during the Spring European Council. We therefore count on the Italian Presidency's active support to ensure that these weaknesses are corrected when fleshing out the details of this strategic agenda. BusinessEurope wants a Europe that can compete with the rest of the world and for that we need to focus on signing trade deals with strategic partners like the US, completing the single market and making sure that Europe only regulates when this is necessary and adds value.
