Mariella Caruana holds a law degree from the University of Malta, a Master of Laws in Tax (LL.M.) from Queen Mary, University of London and an ADIT (Advanced Diploma in International Taxation) qualification certification from the Chartered Institution of Taxation in the UK. Prior to working at BusinessEurope, she formed part of the Global Tax Policy team at Bank of America in London, providing tax and reputational risk management support to front office teams, and worked with industry bodies in the financial services and taxation sectors. She also worked at Deloitte LLP in London advising global asset managers and financial institutions on the requirements to access EU treaty rights and to recover withholding taxes based on emerging case law of the Court of Justice of the European Union. Mariella’s mother tongues are English and Maltese, she is fluent in Italian and conversant in French.
