Multilateral, G7-G20 and WTO

BusinessEurope’s engagement in the B7, B20 and support of the WTO
BusinessEurope’s engagement in the B7, B20 and support of the WTO.
BusinessEurope actively participates in the B7 and B20 platforms – the business pillars of the G7 and G20—which were established in 2007 and 2010, respectively.

These platforms bring together leading business organisations from G7 and G20 countries to help shaping global economic policies. In this respect, BusinessEurope is representing businesses from the EU. In today’s increasingly challenging global environment, the B7 and the B20 play a crucial role in bringing businesses together, speaking in one voice and developing positions and actionable recommendations for governments. Their work spans a wide range of critical topics, ranging from trade and investment to climate and environment, and from finance to employment and skills.

A strong World Trade Organization (WTO) is of key importance for European business as it establishes the rules for free and fair trade with the global market at large. The organisation also provides a solution for resolving potential trade disputes through arbitration at the so-called Appellate Body – avoiding mutually damaging trade wars. The EU must remain committed to the WTO and ensure its future sustainability.
