Strengthening EU economic relations with its neighbours for stability and growth
Strengthening EU economic relations with its neighbours for stability and growth.
A stable and predictable neighbourhood is key for a strong and competitive EU, especially in times of geopolitical turmoil and uncertainty. In this regard, BusinessEurope is advocating for strong relations between the EU and its neighbours who seek to promote resilient supply chains, growth and prosperity for the region, as well as the principles of rule of law; these include the UK, Switzerland, candidate countries* and the Mediterranean countries. More specifically, BusinessEurope is involved in the monitoring of the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement implementation. We also follow the negotiations for a package of agreements that will stabilise and enhance the bilateral trade and economic relations. Moreover, as the EU’s Enlargement Policy is gaining momentum, BusinessEurope is focusing on developing a position towards a successful Enlargement Policy that delivers on its core objectives by making sure that candidate countries are fully prepared to join the EU while also ensuring that the EU is also ready to welcome new members.
*candidate to the EU countries: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo (potential candidate), Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine and Türkiye
