Services
60% of the barriers to the cross-border provision of services which were identified more than 20 years ago still persist today. BusinessEurope urges the EU to advance the agenda of the Single Market for services by liberalising cross-border services in Europe (in particular industry-related services). This must include guaranteeing a better implementation of the legislative framework and vigorously monitoring how the principles of proportionality, necessity and non-discrimination enshrined in the Services Directive are followed by Member States.
BusinessEurope follows initiatives related to the implementation and enforcement of the Services Directive and application of the Proportionality Test Directive. Moreover, BusinessEurope monitors the work carried out within the Single Market Enforcement Taskforce (SMET) and with regard to information access for services providers (e.g., Points of Single Contact).
