Maria Brakatsoula — Adviser

Maria Brakatsoula covers climate policy at BusinessEurope: climate-related legislation, including ETS, CBAM, climate resilience, and just transition. She also follows international climate developments under the COP framework. Before joining BusinessEurope, she worked at the trade association VDMA on climate and energy, and gained experience as a trainee at the European Commission DG Energy, as well as the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA). Maria holds a Master of Laws degree (LL.M) in European and international law from the Europa-Institut (Saarland University, Germany) and a degree in European and International relations from the Panteion University in Greece. A Greek national, she’s fluent in English, has an intermediate level of German, and is currently learning French.
