IPCC report confirms urgent need for global action

Reacting to the IPCC Special Report on Global Warming BusinessEurope President Pierre Gattaz stated:

“We welcome this report and see it as a key scientific input in view of COP24 in Katowice. It clearly demonstrates the importance of strengthening the global response to limit global warming to 1.5°C and the need for all stakeholders to be mobilised. European business is committed to ambitious emissions reduction targets and stands ready to provide solutions to tackle climate change and build a strong EU economy.”

The report clearly shows that it is critical that major global emitters show readiness to scale up their ambitions. 

“The EU is a pioneer and must continue to contribute its fair share to global emission reduction. However, in order to reach our goals we urge the European Commission and EU Member States to raise the pressure on major trading partners to play their part,” Gattaz concluded.
