TTIP - Let’s deliver a 21st-century model agreement

On October 14th, speaking in Rome at a high-level event organised by the Italian Presidency, BUSINESSEUROPE President Emma Marcegaglia called on politicians, business leaders, trade unions, consumer and civil society organisations to work towards delivering an agreement that can effectively respond to the needs of a changing world. The agreement cannot be limited in scope and we must resist the temptation to lower our ambitious for the sake of concluding negotiations faster. Changes will not happen overnight but in the medium to long term TTIP will offer opportunities to reduce unemployment, and increase competitiveness of Europe’s economy by creating new market and investment opportunities, in particular for SMEs. TTIP will also mean new and more goods and services are available for consumers at better prices.
