Is precarity the only vision for the future? The answer is “no”!

Speaking today during the concluding panel of the yearly conference co-organised by the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) and the European Trade Union Institute (ETUI), BUSINESSEUROPE's Director General Markus J. Beyrer said that the EU should fight the right fight: create jobs to reduce unemployment. It is vital to take bold decisions to address the long-standing structural weaknesses on labour markets, which are the main cause for unemployment since many years. The crisis has exacerbated these challenges and reinforced the urgency to act. More flexibility is needed on labour markets if we want to create jobs. European and national social partners can play an important role if they are able to deliver concrete solutions enabling a better functioning of labour markets.
