Macroeconomic dialogue: structural reforms key for growth

Recent economic data clearly underline that those countries which have undertaken genuine structural reforms are now seeing stronger growth, Markus J. Beyrer said at the Macroeconomic Dialogue meeting at political level today. This is the case in particular for Spain and Ireland, but also for Portugal and the Baltic States. Europe must not waste the window of opportunity arisen from a weaker euro, lower oil prices and support from the ECB, and press ahead with ambitious reforms. EC Vice-President Dombrovskis and Commissioner Thyssen were at the meeting, chaired by Minister for Finance Jānis Reirs for the Latvian Presidency.
