ISDS in TTIP: the way forward

European business is strongly in favour of a modernised investor-state dispute settlement mechanism (ISDS) in the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership. At two events that took place this week in Brussels within the context of the 8th round of negotiations on TTIP, BusinessEurope presented possible solutions to some of the problems identified in the current system. For instance: finding the right balance between investor’s rights and the right of States to regulate, further balancing transparency with better access to ISDS for SMEs, ensuring investors will not be denied justice and have a right to fair and equitable treatment.
