European businesses support clear rules on corporation tax

On the current discussion on tax avoidance in Europe, Markus J. Beyrer said: 'European businesses are in favour of more transparency on tax policies. We fully support EU Member States and the G20 commitment on fighting tax fraud and tax evasion. But Europe must be precise in this debate, we need legal certainty. We should respect the competence of Member States to set their own tax policies, supported by a strong enforcement of state aid rules to ensure a level playing field within the internal market. However, the importance of an ongoing dialogue between businesses and tax administrations, which brings much needed clarity both for businesses and governments, must not be undermined.'
