    BUSINESSEUROPE is also a European social partner, taking part in the European Social Dialogue as recognised by the Treaties. It is active in the European social dialogue to promote the smooth functioning of labour markets.

Director General meets European Council President Van Rompuy

BUSINESSEUROPE and ETUC met European Council President Herman Van Rompuy to exchange views on the economic situation and the work of the Taskforce on economic governance led by Mr Van Rompuy. Director General Philippe de Buck recalled that competitiveness and fiscal consolidation are strongly intertwined and should be more appropriately measured and monitored. The meeting was also the occasion to highlight the main recommendations of BUSINESEUROPE’s report 'Improving euro-area governance, securing the long-term success of the euro'.
